Cornflake welcomes you to its fabulous central London Smart AppArtment to experience first-hand the lifestyle benefits of home automation.
What & Where: Try before you buy is the premise of Cornflake’s impressive Smart AppArtment in Windmill Street, Fitzrovia. An iPad-controlled showroom, dressed like a real home, smart technology is seamlessly integrated into every room.
Why Visit: The hands-on approach of Cornflake’s Smart AppArtment allows you to experience and understand how the very latest in home automation can enhance where and how you live. On arrival you are handed an iPad from which you can control every aspect of the AppArtment. You can watch your favourite movie in the luxurious home cinema; play games on the 2m wide gaming screen and dance on the revolving floor in the games room; listen to your favourite music on sonically advanced speakers in the audio room, or simply curl up in front of the i-fire and watch the pop-up UHD TV in the living room.
Visitors to Cornflake can also control and manage household services such as heating, lighting, blinds, security, and data throughout the Smart AppArtment via the iPad. Lights and heating automatically turn down when rooms are vacated and everything can be switched off with one button on leaving the premises.
The Highlights: A roll call of reputed brands and manufacturers reside at the Smart AppArtment. These include Apple, Lutron, Bowers & Wilkins, Crestron, Gaggenau, Legrand, Loewe, Bocci and Wilson Benesch. And, in a bid to help offset the carbon footprint of the technology, sustainable building materials have been used throughout (cue natural clay plaster, cork-leather wall cladding and bamboo flooring). All of the technology is designed to run at maximum energy and cost-saving efficiency and can also be operated remotely to improve home security.
To ensure the Smart AppArtment affords a realistic experience, interior designer Phillip Hine was tasked with styling the 4000sqft space exactly as he would for a Belgravia-based client. Eco-contractor Ecoism Manufacturing Limited undertook the build using modern sustainable materials. Architect Julian Arendt Associates configured the internal room layout, while specialist acousticians were employed to calibrate the rooms to provide the best possible experience for clients.
Visits to the Smart AppArtment are by appointment only.
