Parentesit is a collection of acoustic panels designed to help large spaces feel less echoey and more intimate. They reduce extraneous background noise and help create a space for concentration. Inevitably, Arper’s main focus is the contract market and it’s the ideal product for shared workspaces. But there is now an argument that our increasingly open-plan homes could also benefit. Particularly now Arper has created a freestanding version of Parentesit.
Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina in 2015 the wall panels are available in three shapes – circle, square or oval – in a range of bold colours. The panels can stand alone or be paired for greater impact. Parentesit Freestanding resembles a room divider or screen, so you can partition off a space as required. Modules are available in four options: two round panels of different sizes, one square panel and one combination square and round panel; all framed in a matt black metal frame.
And the smart bit? Well, all panels can be customised with the addition of a speaker or ambient light. And you can now control them using the Parentesit app, available for both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The app gives you full control of your panel with on/off switch buttons and control bars to choose the light mix – either warm or cold, to set your required atmosphere or task lighting. You can also stream audio from your mobile device to the speaker via Bluetooth 3.0 through A2DP.
